Erin and Cristin’s wedding ~ Kiholo Black Sand Beach on Big Island

For a black sand beach close to Kona and the hotels along the west coast, we highly recommend Kiholo Bay. This will give you an easy and quick drive from your getting-ready location and a relatively easy walk down to the beach. The jagged coastline at Kiholo provides some amazing backdrops for your wedding photos.

Erin and Cristin’s wedding started with the forecast being a 90% chance of rain. Usually, we start considering a location back-up for rain but this is tricky for black sand beaches! Fortunately, That forecast got better and better as the hours went by and we had a stunning sunset at Kiholo Bay. Not a drop of rain! I ended my trip with one of my favorite weddings I ever photographed and I cried behind my camera a few times!
