Your Quick Guide for Eloping on the Big Island, Hawaii
A. Find a trusted team of wedding experts
Wedding ceremonies and photography in Hawaii require special permits depending on the location. In some locations, permits can be issued on the same day and others can take 30-60 days in advance! Nearly all of these permits will require proof of liability insurance with specific language naming the State or its agency as an additional insured party. If you hire a team that knows the ins and outs of the permitting process, this would take a ton of stress off you.
B. Pick a location that is right for you
There are so many stunning locations all over the island. It is even difficult for me to list my top 5! My advice, as a photographer with many years of experience, is to pick a location based on backdrops that suit your personality, your home (think of huge artwork), and your activity level. Often we get requests for locations that involve moderate to strenuous hikes. You want to be prepared! If hiking in your dress or your dress packed, braving the elements is your kind of thing then go for it! Adventure elopements are popular here and our team can help you with a few options for that on the Big Island.
C. Book dinner or brunch reservations.
What better way to celebrate your wedding day than to head out to brunch or dinner after your photos? If you have never been to the island, our collections will include a dining guide to help you with this process!
That’s mostly the gist of it! Happy planning and we can’t wait to hear from you!
